How to configure RustDesk Client to connect to Silverlake's RustDesk Server

These instructions assume that you have already installed RustDesk Client and that you are able to run it.

You must also have the Silverlake RustDesk Server configuration string available to copy and paste into the RustDesk Client.

Finally, you should only do this with a Silverlake technician that you know and trust, as they will have remote access to your PC while RustDesk is running.

Step 1

In RustDesk Client, click the Settings menu button at the top right corner of the window (it looks like three horizontal parallel lines).

Step 2

In the Settings panel, click the Network button in the left-hand column.

Step 3

If present, click the "Unlock Network Settings" button.

Step 4

Now you see the Network settings panel. Click "ID/Relay Server"

Step 5

Now, get the long configuration string that you were given for the RustDesk Server. It may have been emailed to you, or you might have been told by your technician to get it from a network drive or web page. Select the entire string and copy it by pressing Ctrl-C on your keyboard (Cmd-C for Mac users).

Step 6

Back in the RustDesk Client, looking at the Network settings panel, click the round button that has a clipboard icon on it to import the settings string that you copied to the clipboard in step 5.

Step 7

You should see "silverlakecorp.com" fill into the top-most text field called "ID Server" and a long string of characters fill the bottom-most text field called "Key." If you do not see "silverlakecorp.com" in the top-most field, you might want to pause and consider whether you trust this person. You might be speaking with a scammer pretending to be a technician from Silverlake Corp. You can always stop and close RustDesk Client's windows and confirm that you are working with the right person via other means, such as contacting your assigned Silverlake technician by phone or email.

Step 8

If everything looks okay and you trust the technician who is about to provide remote support, click OK and then you will see the Home screen again. It should say "Ready" at the bottom. Provide the ID and password to the technician, and they will initiate the connection to your computer, which you may then accept.
